Encore: Clear Out Some Clutter Saturday With Scrap Tire Dropoff, Document Shredding
The city will offer to take up to five old car tires off your hands Saturday, and you can have documents safely shredded, too.

Clear out the garage by taking old tires to the city's annual scrap tire collecction Saturday, April 21.
Residents may take up to five tires to the West Des Moines Public Works Facility, 560 S. 16th St., according to the city's website. Take tires to the last driveway on the east side of South 16th Street. Tires will be accepted at the gate.
The city holds the event in conjunction with the Metro Waste Authority.

Residents may dispose of a maximum of five tires per household; tires on rims are accepted. The city will not accept scrap tires from businesses, farm or tractor tires, or solid tires such as lawnmower, forklift, or golf car tires.
The tire collection is open to West Des Moines residents only. If you have any questions, call Metro Waste Authority at 244-0021 or Public Works at 222-3480.

Paper Shredding Saturday Morning, Too
This year Greenstar Shredding will provide immediate document shredding at the scrap tire drop-off event. Residents and businesses may bring paper documents and watch them go through the shredder. This free service will be available from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
