Construction incident at Valley High School

It could have been a big-time wipeout--but city, school and others saved the day.

Instead, a truck carrying a concrete panel to the construction site at Valley High School on Valley West Drive in West Des Moines tipped when it made the turn while going into the construction site but didn't roll over on its side. The truck stopped, and a crane was called to help right the truck. Traffic was blocked on Valley West Drive to the south of Woodland Avenue while the crane took care of the truck.

"We're done," noted Ed Harvey, a sergeant with the West Des Moines Police Department. "It's all gone pretty smooth. It's a slow process."
