Could You Survive Doomsday? Self-Reliance Festival Offers Strategies
West Des Moines hosts three-day festival with speakers on survivalism, skills demonstrations and vendors with everything you'll need.

If you’re worried about doomsday scenarios and how you’ll survive, answers can be found at the Midwest Self-Reliance Festival Friday through Sunday at the Val Air Ballroom, 301 Ashworth Road.
“Only a couple of generations ago, everyone in the Midwest had a pantry full of home-canned good and smoked meats,” the festival sponsors said on their Facebook page. “ They had their own wells to provide clean, clear water and the skills needed to survive hardships they may encounter throughout the year.
Now most have lost those skills and many want to relearn them.”
