Home sales and prices continue to increase in the Iowa market according to the Iowa Assoc. of Realtors. Reports in the “Housing Trends Report” show that sales were up 18.3% from a year ago. 4,074 homes sold in July 2013 and 3,444 homes were sold/closed in July of 2012. Even prices were up nearly 11% and year to date prices were up more than 5%. The average sale price in Iowa has also increased by 10.8% in July 2013 it was $168,823 compared with $152,361 last July.
Inventory has still been a little limited these past 6 months; however, statistics show that sales prices are up due to this lack of inventory. Active listings are up 14.7% from last July climbing from 4,985 to 5,717, currently. This data is gathered by the Iowa Assoc. of Realtors and the good news here is that all the numbers are still on the rise
