'Dancing with the Stars' Results: Did Shawn Johnson Escape Elimination Tonight?

The West Des Moines native and Olympic champion survived a double-elimination episode Tuesday night and will dance again Monday.

Shawn Johnson's amazing quickstep -- called the "best dance ever" by some of the judges -- was safe from elimination in Tuesday night's "Dancing With the Stars: All Stars."

Johnson and professional partner Derek Hough gained a combined score of 26.5 out of 30 possible points, just half a point behind two couples tied for first place at 27 points.

Fans joined in to keep Johnson in the ABC reality competition show on a night when two stars were booted: former champion and Indy car driver Helio Castroneves and former boy band singer Drew Lachey.

On Monday night, judge Len Goodman -- who gave the West Des Moines gold-medal gymnast an 8 -- said he had to deduct a point from Johnson's score for breaking some of the rules on what the dance requires.

"Your ability to intperet music into movement is fantastic," Goodman raved. "I've never enjoyed a routine more."

Johnson, who had to retire from gynmastics competition this summer because of a knee injury, has her eyes on another glitter ball trophy as the 15th season of the ABC network’s show begins. Locally, the show airs at 7 p.m. Monday on.

The 20-year-old gymnast who retired after a knee injury claimed the Season 8 title in 2009.

"Spectacular, unforgettable," said judge Bruno Tonioli on Monday, who gave the pair a 9.5 out of 10 points. "The best dance I've seen in 15 seasons."

And judge Carrie Ann Inaba said Johnson's dance was "also the best dance ever, but they broke the rules." Still, she gave the couple a lofty 9.
