DART routes to be rerouted down 7th Street in Des Moines

Routes had been detoured since March 29 fire

Ten DART bus routes will return to regular routing through downtown Des Moines on Friday due to the reopening of 7th Street.

DART Routes 1, 3, 4, 11, 14, 15, 17, 51, 52 and 60 have been on detour through downtown since the fire at the Younkers building on March 29. The #3, #11 and #52 routes serve West Des Moines.

The return to regular downtown routing will affect three bus stops:

• The temporary bus stop on Mulberry Street between 8th and 9th Street will be closed effective Friday;
• The bus stop at 7th and Walnut streets will remain closed further notice;
• The bus stop at 7th and Locust streets remains open and will now be the last stop before DART Central Station for buses headed into downtown Des Moines.

In addition, the LINK Shuttle that operates out of the Center Street Park and Ride will remain on partial detour, returning to 7th Street but remaining on detour on Mulberry Street due to an ongoing closure on Walnut Street.
