Here's A New One: Why a West Des Moines Girlfriend Called the Cops

When police answer an assault call, rarely do they run into this.

A woman who called on March 23 to report a fight wound up facing charges of assault causing injury.

When police asked Michelle Rae Adame, 22, of 2330 E.P. True Pkwy. why she -- and not the alleged victim -- had called police, she reportedly said that her boyfriend had threatened to call police, “but that she was so mad that she did it for him,” according to a report filed by Officer Matthew Graznow.

According to Graznow’s report, Adame was upset with her boyfriend, who works an overnight factory shift, over how much time he sleeps during the day.

The alleged victim said that at one point during the argument, Adame struck the left side of his face with a closed fist, leaving a visible contusion, according to Graznow’s report.  A scratch was also visible, but the woman’s boyfriend said that resulted from a prior confrontation, Graznow reported.

Also according to the report, Adame told police that the argument was over the way her boyfriend treats her and that she “got upset and punched [him].”

Graznow said there were four children ranging from the ages of 5 years to 5 months present at the residence at the time of the assault.

Adame was arrested, booked at the West Des Moines Jail, and then transported to the Polk County Jail. She has since been released from custody.
