Democrat Susan Judkins Says She'll Ask for Recount in House District 43

Rep. Chris Hagenow's lead narrowed when provisional and absentee ballots were counted.

Susan Judkins, who trails her opponent by 22 votes after provisional ballots and absentees were counted, says she will ask for a recount of her House District 43 race.

In voting Tuesday, Republican incumbent Chris Hagenow received 8,729 votes, compared with 8,700 received by Judkins. With Hagenow’s lead narrowed in the canvass, Judkins says she’ll ask for a recount.

Some absentee ballots may still be outstanding. They must have been postmarked by midnight Nov. 5 and be received in the election commissioner’s office by noon on Monday, Nov. 12, to count.

A recount will ensure that “every vote is appropriately considered,” Judkins said.
