Ejected West Des Moines Hotel Guest Allegedly Insists on Quaffing Beer, Refuses to Go Out in the Rain
Woman reportedly said she and her friends were "just having fun" – fun that apparently included a hotel sign.

A St. Joseph, MO, woman who was with a group of guests allegedly kicked out of a West Des Moines hotel for being rowdy was charged with criminal trespassing after reportedly telling police she wanted to finish her beer before being ousted.
West Des Moines police were called to the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel about 10:30 Feb. 9, and said the group refused to leave.
One of them, Anissa Christine Demarr, 22, of St. Joseph, reportedly told officers Matthew Granzow and Ryan Anderson that they were “just having fun” and that she wanted to finish her beer before leaving.
Anderson agreed and told her to drink it quickly, but eventually had to take it from her because she was “messing around,” according to the report.
The group appeared to be leaving without further incident and took an elevator to the lobby. The police officers took the stairs, as they reached the bottom, they reportedly saw Demarr running back into the lobby.
“I asked her to leave,” Granzow wrote in the report. “With a smile on her face, she said no. I asked her a second time to leave. Again with a smile on her face she said no. She said it ws cold outside and she did not want to stand outside in the rain.”
Demarr’s friends reportedly pulled at her arm and tried to convince her to give it up, but she resisted, Granzow wrote, “showing she was not going to leave.”
So he placed her under arrest and charged her with criminal trespassing. While searching her property, authorities reportedly found a sign belonging to the hotel. Hotel officials said they didn’t want to press theft charges, but wanted the sign returned, which would have cost $50 to replace.
