Buiding Community Resilience for the Future

Safeguard Iowa Partnership will observe its 5th anniversary at its Building Community Resilience for the Future Conference and Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 14, at Des Moines University. The Partnership will celebrate the successes of the organization with presentations from key leaders including  Bill Fehrman, President and CEO of MidAmerican Energy Company; Beth Freeman, Regional Administrator for FEMA Region 7 and Dan Stoneking, Director of the FEMA Private Sector Office.

In January of 2007, the leaders of the Iowa Business Council, Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division, Iowa Department of Public Health and Iowa Department of Public Safety gathered to launch a statewide public-private partnership for emergency management. The concept was to bring together businesses and government agencies from across Iowa to collaborate on issues to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters together. Today the Safeguard Iowa Partnership is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with partners from small, medium, and large businesses, nonprofit organizations, associations and local, county, state and federal government agencies.
