The World Food Prize Foundation invites members of the public to celebrate the 99th birthday of Iowa hero Dr. Norman Borlaug, Father of the Green Revolution and “the man who saved a billion lives.”

The World Food Prize Hall of Laureates will be open during extended hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and visitors can tour the building and learn more about Dr. Borlaug’s story. The documentary, “Freedom from Famine: The Norman Borlaug Story,” will be shown at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. A Borlaug Scavenger Hunt and other children’s activities will also be happening throughout the day, and the Food Bank of Iowa will collect food donations to help fight hunger statewide.
