Registration is now open for the forthcoming Iowa Senior Olympics which will be held this summer at various venues around the Des Moines area. The Games are open to all participants who will be 50 and older this year. Some of the events include basketball, bowling, track and field, shuffleboard, Pickleball, tennis, swimming, table tennis and golf. A highlight of this year's event is the annual Granny Basketball Tournament which features basketball being played by the traditional rules for six-on-six basketball by players in vintage uniforms. The registration fee up to May 18 is $35.00; after that date is $40.00. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked no later than June 3 and on-line registrations will end at 6 p.m. on June 7.
