Environmental Sociology is the study of the relationship between human societies and the natural environment. It is obvious to all that humans are changing the landscape, wildlife, oceans and even the climate. In the past humans have intuitively known not to ruin the land that provides for them. Modern humans have lost touch with nature. Mike Delaney, emeritus professor of sociology at DMACC, has been teaching environmental sociology over the past seven years. He will give us a taste of what he does in his class during the month of September. Two of the four books he uses in his class are Aldo Leopold's "Sand County Almanac" and Frances Moore "Lappe's Ecomind." Mike is vice president of the Raccoon River Watershed Association and is the chair of the Izaak Walton League's legislative committee.
