Exclusive West Des Moines Boutique Strives to Make Homes Beautiful, Too
K. Renee has been stylishly dressing women for more than 20 years. Now, owners want customers to be in beautiful surroundings, too.

The owners of a popular West Des Moines clothing boutique have expanded their business with an upscale home goods store in the same University Avenue strip mall that has been a destination for women looking for exclusive designs for the past 12 years.
owners Kelli Schulz and Julie Ross have opened K. Renee Home in the Governor’s Square shopping center, the Des Moines Register reported.
The store is an extension of the offerings in the boutique, which features styles not found elsewhere in central Iowa. Inventory in the home store includes chairs, sofas, benches and other items people with discerning tastes need to decorate their homes. Sofas retail for up to $3,000, lamps for as much as $600 and throw pillows at $175 a toss.
“We wanted to share our enthusiasm for beautiful things,” Schulz told the Register. “Who doesn’t love to have beautiful surroundings?”
“We look for things we love and things that make us gasp,” Ross said.
Schulz and her husband, Jeff, opened K. Renee 20 years ago in their Gladbrook home, then moved it to Ames before settling into the West Des Moines location. Ross was a customer of the boutique before joining Schulz in the business venture.
