Fido and Fluffy wonder: Can you handle the heat?
The Keg Stand is hosting a chili cookoff on April 2 to benefit local no-kill animal shelter Furry Friends Refuge.
Once again, Furry Friends Refuge’s finest chefs will square off at The Keg Stand to compete for the chili crown.
The event takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at The Keg Stand, 3530 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.
Admission is $10 and includes samples of all stews, plus a draw of Ballast Point beer. In between tastings, you can participate in a silent auction and enter raffles; prizes include a keg party!

All proceeds benefit Furry Friends Refuge, a local no-kill animal shelter. The nonprofit organization has created Iowa’s first and only no-kill community in West Des Moines, Clive, and Urbandale.
