Five-Car Wreck on Jordan Creek Parkway Backing Up Traffic Near Interstate

Traffic in West Des Moines is already heavy with spectators going to and from the Principal Charity Classic under way at Glen Oaks Country Club.

A five-car wreck on Jordan Creek Parkway near the Interstate 80 exits in West Des Moines is causing traffic backups in both directions, witnesses report.

The wreck doesn't appear to be the cause of serious injuries. But, it's affect on the afternoon commute could be serious.

Witnesses said traffic backup had nearly reached the Des Moines Golf and Country Club, which is host to the Principal Charity Classic through Sunday.

Organizers hope to avoid traffic snarls by having golf spectators park at Jordan Creek Town Center and take shuttle buses from the mall's Mills Civic Parkway entrance east to Glen Oaks Country Club.

Friday afternoon is also a busy time for the area as area residents head to bars, clubs and restaurants in the Jordan Creek and West Glen Town Center area -- across from Glen Oaks -- to start their weekend.
