It's been awhile since I've contributed anything to the Patch, and I miss it. Several friends who read my morning blog on facebook have told me that I need to start putting it here and linking it to facebook. Ok, I'm alright with trying that out so here's the background . . . I walk my dog very early in the morning, like 4:30 to 5:00 a.m. kind of early, and even in the dark, I keep my eyes wide open. I love this little world we live in, Des Moines . . . Here's today's facebook post:
*~*~*~
After the oppressing humidity of the last couple of days, the breeze this morning felt refreshing and light, which tends to make my soul feel refreshed and light. Of course, it's Friday - and Fridays hold an undefined air of anticipation and excitement for the weekend ahead . . . My fingers are itching to pluck infant flowers from choked flats, to spread their tight maze of roots tenderly so they can breathe, to pat moist, dark potting soil lightly as a blanket around them, to give them their first drink in their new home. You can take a generation or two off the farm but you can't take the dirt out of the blood, I guess. The love of the land runs just under our skin in Iowa and flows quick and hot every spring - a legacy handed down to us from those who pioneered our future in the past. Happy Friday!
