A welcome relief to the cold, damp, cloudy days of November, the music of the North Oakland Dixieland Band will warm the hall and the hearts of the audience with selections of traditional Dixieland tunes as well as classic jazz favorites as popularized by such luminaries as Louis Armstrong, Jellyroll Morton and W. C. Handy. The group, lead by George Sinnott of the NOCB, comprises virtuosic jazz clarinet, cornet, tenor sax and trombone as leads, backed by an energetic rhythm section of piano, guitar, tuba, banjo and drums. Many arrangements also include the band’s vocalist, Sara Adams.
The North Oakland Dixieland Band has performed at numerous engagements in the Detroit Metropolitan area including Orion Township, Auburn Hills, Oakland Township, and many other communities in Southeast Michigan. They have also appeared twice at the Greater Detroit Jazz Society with a third appearance coming soon.
