Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty: Did You Take the Rent Money? West Des Moines Police Blotter
Sisters think a former roommate is a "cat burglar."

Two sisters sharing a West Des Moines apartment think a former roommate stole rent money and then came back to nab a black cat that one of the women had just brought home, according to a report.
The suspect, a 28-year-old West Des Moines man, moved out at the end of July, but still had keys to the apartment, according to a report filed Aug. 26 by Officer Amanda St. George.
The younger sister said she came home about 4 p.m. Sunday to find the dog out of its crate and running around the apartment, which was in a state of disarray. She secured the new kitten upstairs in a bedroom and returned downstairs to corral the dog. Papers that had been on shelves in the kitchen were strewn about, but the woman told St. George that she didn’t think the dog or another cat were responsible.
When she picked up the papers, she couldn’t find an envelope containing $68 in rent money, according to the report. She said the former roommate would have known of her practice of keeping the rent money in an envelope.
After finding the mess, the woman left the apartment for a short time. A 4-door black vehicle with a large spoiler, tinted windows and chrome rims she had seen in the parking lot when she came home was still there.
The woman told St. George that when she returned home, she checked everywhere, but could not find the new black kitten anywhere, and she suspected the former roommate had come and taken it.
