If You Found a $16,125 Ring at West Des Moines Mall, Mom Wants it Back

The woman told police the ring was lost by her daughter, who took it with her when she went shopping at Jordan Creek Town Center.

An Ankeny woman may be out one diamond ring following a shopping trip to Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines.

A $16,125 diamond ring, to be exact.

The woman filed a first-degree theft report Friday on the advice of her insurance agent, according to a report on file at the West Des Moines Police Deparment. She told Officer Alyssa Jensen that her daughter picked the ring up from a Clive jeweler on Dec. 17 and took with with her inside the mall because she "thought it would be safer on her person than in an unattended car."

The teenager reportedly told her mom that she put the ring in an American Eagle shopping bag, but when she returned home, she realized the bag was no longer in her possession. The bag may have been stolen, she told her mom, or she may have left it in a restroom stall at the mall, according to the report.

The ring's 1.83-carat center cut diamond is surrounded by 12 princess-cut diamonds with a total weight of .75 carat.
