Only about 550 voters separated the two candidates.

As people across the country are digesting the results of yesterday's general election, local voters can see the breakdown of votes here in West Des Moines.

West Des Moines voters supported President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden over the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan ticket, 16,993 to 16,455, according to unofficial vote totals from the Iowa Secretary of State's Office.
