IRS Releases $1.7 Million in Liens Against West Des Moines Payroll Outsourcer

Outstanding tax obligations for 2012 have reportedly been satisified, say officials.

The Internal Revenue Service has released $1.7 million in liens against a West Des moines human resources outsourcing company whose outstanding tax obligations left client businesses wondering if they would have to pay payroll taxes twice.

The company, ICL Staffing Inc., which does business as InFocus Partners, and other affiliated companies have been behind in tax payments off and on since 2006. The overall debt was around $3.8 million.

The Business Record reported today that Iowa Secretary of State records show the IRS released the lien on Nov. 9. On Oct. 22, InFocus Partners founder John Vratsinas’s attorney, Christopher James, told Patch his client had paid outstanding tax liabilities for 2012 and was making progress on satisfying payroll taxes for prior years.

“We have also secured the necessary funds to fully pay all prior tax liabilities within 90 days,” the attorney said in the statement. “InFocus remains committed to working with the IRS to ensure that InFocus is solely responsible for any taxes owed for prior periods.”

According to the Business Record, James said arrangements are being made to erase those IRS debts by the first of the year.
