PHOTOS: It. Was. 65. Awesome. Degrees. Outside.
West Des Moines dogs, their owners and a handful of golfers loved Thursday's record-setting temperatures.
The boss is merciless. It’s supposed to be in the 60s today, she said, so snap to, get out there in your Patch — that’s Patch-ese for local editors’ coverage areas — and snap some photos of folks enjoying it.
Some editors will do anything for a story.
What did you do today to enjoy the unseasonable warm weather? Tell us in comments.

Setting the mood: The sun roof was open, The Kinks blared on the stereo and the inner rocker was happy, singing “Don’t Forget to Dance” off key.
The plan: There really wasn’t one, other than to let the day go where it would.
The first stop: The West Des Moines City/School Campus. It was a little after 1 p.m. and the trails were busy, but not as busy as they would be later in the afternoon. Some poor schmucks who, unlike Patch editors, have jobs that keep them indoors when it is 65 awesome degrees outside.
This was a good choice. Met some nice dogs, Diamond and Sosha. They are resuce dogs — the best kind — from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa — and were taking their people, Rich and Carolyn Conner of West Des Moines, out for a stroll.
Next up: Willow Creek Golf Club, a 36-hole public golf course at 2885 S. First St. Here, George Heddinger, Dick McGinn and Mike Riter, all of West Des Moines, and Pat Hart of Van Meter have put together a foursome to play a few holes of golf, something they claim they’ve never done on Jan. 5.
In fact, Heddinger says, “This is the first day I have ever played golf the day before my birthday.”
You say it's your birthday? It’s my birthday, too, yeah. Or at least on a day like this, it should’ve been.
It is 65 awesome degrees outside. If you can't sing on a day like this, even if it's badly, when can you?

Dan Clark, the club manager, says the four were among about 100 golfers who came out for the day. Saturday was almost as busy, but for a weekday, this was a great crowd.
The golf season hasn’t really ended this year, he says. Willow Creek has been closed a few days this fall and winter, but most years, the course closes around Thanksgiving.
Ending the day: Raccoon River Dog Park. Met some more nice dogs, the kind of dogs that, if you were a male dog, you’d fall head over heels with — Caly, a Leonberger, and Greta, a Newfoundland mix, who took their people, Cathy and Todd Evans, out to play.
The high temperature: Did we mention it was 65. Awesome. Degrees. Outside?
