Police Investigating Teen's Report of Christmas Night Drug Binge With 41-Year-Old Man
A mother and her 15-year-old daughter last week reported to authorities that the girl was offered hasish and smoked pot with a family friend. No charges have been filed to date.

Authorities are investigating a report that a 41-year-old man gave a 15-year-old West Des Moines girl hashish and smoked marijuana with her.
The report was filed Friday, but the alleged drug use took place on Christmas night, according to police reports. West Des Moines police turned over the case to the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force.
The girl, whose mother has a child with the man, alleged he was giving her a ride Dec. 25 when a small bag fell out of his pocket. When she asked the man, who sometimes had acted as a father figure, what was in the bag, he said it was hash and asked her if she wanted it, according to a report on file at the police department.
The girl said she took the bag and the two also smoked a marijuana cigarette, according to the report.
She told police the man has a safe in the bedroom of his apartment that contains about a dozen containers of marijuana, plastic bags and a scale. She also said she has also seen glass pipes and other drug paraphernalia in his apartment.
The girl’s mother said she reported to Iowa Department of Human Services officials that the man gave her daughter drugs. She reported the matter to police after DHS officials said the claim had merit and workers urged her to file a police report.
