Last Chance to Get Rid of Storm Debris This Week in West Des Moines

All tree branches brought down in the April 14 storm that are smaller than 8 inches in diameter must be out on the curb Monday morning. Collection runs this week on garbage pickup days.

The City of West Des Moines will collect tree branches brought down in the April 14 storm from residents who receive city garbage service, according to the city's website.

Crews will collect branches up to 8 inches in diameter. Tree branches should be no longer than 8 feet in length and must be placed on the public right-of-way parallel to the curb. Large diameter debris in excess of 8 inches will need to be separated from eligible debris.

Large diameter tree debris (8 inches and larger) is not eligible for the city's collections and must be handled by private tree contractors or homeowners. Small branches and other tree debris should be bagged or bundled and handled through Metro Waste Authority's Compost-It program.
