Millikin University Choir to perform in Clive

The Millikin University Choir will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue, Clive, Iowa.
The choir, from Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois, will perform as part of its annual winter choir tour, showcasing its reputation for innovative programming and tonal variety with repertoire spanning five centuries. The choir is on a tour of the Upper Midwest and Illinois; the Clive performance is the only one in Iowa.
The choir’s director is Dr. Bradley Holmes, professor of music and director of choral studies. He has led the choir since 1991.
The choir has an extensive touring history which includes performances in Europe, the Caribbean and eastern Asia. It has also recorded seven CDs, including the live recordings of the annual Vespers at Millikin, a tradition which attracts nearly 7,000 attendees. The choir’s recent appearance at the national convention of the American Choral Directors Association garnered new attention to the choir’s approach to tone.
To get to Faith Lutheran Church, located in the western part of the Des Moines area, take Interstate-235 to the Valley West Drive exit. Go north on Valley West Drive to University Avenue and then go west to the 42nd/104th Street intersection. Faith Lutheran Church is on the north side of University Avenue by the Clive water tower.
