More Snow in the Forecast for West Des Moines, but Will it be Enough for Storm to be Named Saturn?

Early forecasting models suggest dusting will be light.

More accumulating snow is in the forecast, but the jury’s still out on whether the storm will have enough potency to earn a name, according to The Weather Channel, which began naming winter storms last year.

If it does, the storm will named Winter Storm Saturn.

Saturday, the conditions looked good for some accumulating snow. However, the National Weather Service in Des Moines was predicting Saturday that accumulation will be light – less than an inch tonight and half-inch tomorrow.

Here’s what Weather Underground said Saturday: 20 percent chance of precipitation overnight; 60 percent chance of snow both Monday and Tuesday.
