Mollison, who has family members who are Jewish, told the Des Moines Register the comments are more hurtful than criticism of his leadership, including policies against grinding, a sexually suggestive dance, at school functions.
American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa Executive Director Ben Stone told the Register school officials have limited authority over what students do when they’re not in school. He said “racist speach should be countered with non-racist speech.”
