RAGBRAI 2013 Will Pass Through Valley Junction
Riders will come into town on Grand Avenue and pedal down Railroad Avenue, which offers easy access to the Great American Main Street community.
RAGBRAI cyclists will pedal along West Des Moines’ Railroad Avenue en route to their overnight campground, giving merchants in Historic Valley Junction a chance to demonstrate why the shopping district was named a Great American Main Street award winner in 2012.
The Des Moines Register released route details for RAGBRAI XLI for the July 21-27 ride on Sunday.
West Des Moines and the Capital City welcome the throng on Tuesday, July 23. Riders will come into West Des Moines from Van Meter along Dallas County F90 (Grand Avenue), then travel across Railroad Avenue to First Street/63rd Street to Park Avenue to George Flagg Parkway and finally to Water Works Park, which will be transformed into a tent city to accommodate the thousands of riders.
Perry in Dallas County is an overnight host Monday, July 22, and riders will pass through Minburn, Dallas Center and Van Meter before arriving in West Des Moines.
