Religious Council, Faith Leaders to Encourage Latham to Remember Poor During Government Shutdown
DMARC says the poor are disproportionately affected by the government shutdown.

The Des Moines Area Religious Council is organizing a prayer vigil at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the office of Iowa 3rd District Rep. Tom Latham encouraging him to remember the poor, who DMARC says are disproportionately affected by the government shutdown.
“During this time of the government shutdown many are suffering, and many more are at risk,” DMARC said in a statement. “However, no one is as vulnerable as the poor.”
Religious leaders and concerned people of faith are invited to gather at the congressman’s office, 2700 Grand Ave., Suite 109, Des Moines to offer prayer, scripture, and a brief statement encouraging the congressman to remember the poor.
