Shots Reported Near Val Air Ballroom Overnight

responded to a report of shots fired at 2:20 a.m. Sunday northwest of the , according to the Des Moines Register.

Sgt. Steven Areges said residents reported hearing four to five shots near the Val Air and officers found shell casings in the 600 block of Clegg Road.

Areges said a hip hop dance was taking place at Val Air but nothing suggests the two events were connected. The ballroom hosted Drake Relays parties this weekend, with another set for Sunday night.

Areges said residents also saw a Kia Sportage and Chevrolet HHR drive away from the scene, according to the Register.

“We believe the vehicles are connected but we’re not sure,” he told the newspaper.
