Spring Break Weather Forecast: Cold, Snowy, No Flip-Flops in Sight

Last year when West Des Moines Community Schools dismissed for spring break, it was shorts-and-sandals weather. This year, not so much.

Last year’s summer-like spring break was a weather freak show. It would be cruel to go on and on about it. Suffice it to say it’s not flip-flop weather yet.

Here’s the spring break weather down-low for West Des Moines:

It might snow this morning, mainly before 10 a.m., with a half-inch accumulation possible. Otherwise, it’ll be mostly cloudy with a high near 38 and continued windy, with a west northwest wind of 7 to 12 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Gusts could reach 34 mph. Monday night, expect an overnight low of 16.

There’s no more precipitation in the seven-day forecast. Temperatures aren’t expected to make it out of the 30s until Sunday, when the high could reach 42.

On Tuesday, wind chill values could make it feel like 5 degrees.
