Struggling Tallgrass Grocery Store Going Out of Business
Beginning immediately, inventory is offered at a 50 percent discount.

The struggling in Historic Valley Junction is going out of business, according to an email sent this morning to members and supporters.
The co-op has been struggling for months. In July, directors asked members to consider short-term and even secured a s, but it apparently was not enough to keep the retail store going.
The member-based co-ops board of directors voted to close the retail store at the end of business on Sunday, Aug 26.
“This very difficult decision came after months of trying to increase sales to a level to sustain the business,” according to the email. “We cannot operate the grocery store at our continuing low sales levels and it is our fiduciary responsibility to make this decision to close.”
The remaining inventory will be offered at a 50 percent discount, beginning today, according to the email.
“We need your support to sell the inventory that we have, so please come by the store and shop,” it read.
Tallgrass is also looking for someone to take over the store lease and space. Interested parties should contact Chuck Denton, the board president, at (515) 770-3937.
