Two Arrested In Burglary; West Des Moines Schools Keep Kids Off Buses

Police arrested two people and are still looking for two suspects after a woman interrupted burglars in her home.

West Des Moines police have arrested two people in connection with a home burglary about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 block of South 49th Street, and are looking for two more suspects.

Arrested and charged with burglary were Jatniel Pastrana-Santiago, 23, of Lafayette, LA, and Julio Torres-Anglero, 31, of Nashville, TN, according to a news release.

A woman at home at the time confronted two men inside the house and they took off through an open window, according to police.

One of the suspects was arrested in a vehicle parked outside the house and the other was caught more than two hours later after a search of an area generally located east of Interstate 35, west of South 35th Street, north of the Raccoon River and south of Oakwood.

The police department notified of the geographic location of the search and asked officials not to drop students at bus stops in the area.

As a result, students at , and schools who ride the bus were being held at the buildings, according to an email sent to district parents by the school district.

Parents living in the affected area were told they could pick up their children at their schools. A sign-out process was implemented, according to the email.

The second supect was found in the 4200 block of Commerce Drive and taken into custody, according to the release. No one was injured and there were no weapons involved, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing to determine if more suspects are involved.
