Two Workers Injured After Falling Off Roof of House Under Construction

Two construction workers are hospitalized after an accident at the house they were building.

Two men were hospitalized after a construction accident in West Des Moines Monday morning, according to WHO-TV.com.

Emergency crews were called to 1665 Walnut Woods Drive around 11:21 a.m. Officials say two men fell about 35 feet from the roof of a house under construction. David Edgar with West Des Moines Emergency Medical Services told WHO the men were installing trusses for an expansion to the house when the trusses apparently separated from the main structure and collapsed.

The men landed on the construction debris.

One suffered back injuries and the other was believed to have a collapsed lung, the TV station reported. A 46-year-old man was in critical condition at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, while a 35-year-old man with serious injuries was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
