Ultimate Superstar performs at Faith Lutheran Church
Musical depicts Biblical story through story, music and dance.
Will Johnson of West Des Moines channels Elvis Presley as he belts it out during a performance of Ultimate Superstar, the children's musical performed by the youth of Faith Lutheran Church in Clive during the weekend of February 6-7. About 50 youth in first through sixth grades participated in the performances.
According to the playwright, a misunderstanding during the dress rehearsal for a church talent show leads the kids to think there's an "Ultimate Superstar" coming to see the show. The children have to deal with issues of pride and being "good enough for a superstar". Eventually, they finally discover that Jesus is the one and only "Ultimate Superstar!"
