Valley High School Hires New Tennis Coach

Jay Fifield, part of the central Iowa tennis community for 36 years, will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Kirk Trow last spring.

A news release from the West Des Moines Community School District: 

Valley High School has hired Jay Fifield as the Tigers’ new head boys tennis coach. Fifield is a vice president/financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Des Moines. He played tennis for Ankeny High School and Marycrest College, has a wide array of experience coaching junior players and has been part of the Central Iowa tennis community for 36 years.

 "We are excited to have Jay leading our program," said VHS Activities Director Brad Rose. "He is a long time member of the local tennis community and he will do a great job for us."

 Fifield fills the vacancy created by the resignation of 13-year veteran Kirk Trow last June. Trow, who led the Tigers to the state team title in 2010, resigned last summer in order to take over as men's and women's tennis coach at Grand View College.
