Bands from as far as Minnesota and South Dakota traveled to Ankeny to compete in the 2011 Mid-Iowa Band Championship on Saturday, but the Class 4-A champion came from just down the road.

West Des Moines Valley bested runner-up Waterloo West for the Class 4-A title on Saturday. Dowling Catholic placed third.
