Vandals Deflate Summertime Fun in West Des Moines

Video surveillance shows suspects running through a homeowner's yard.

think three reports of vandalism in the 3100 block of Pleasant Drive early the morning of July 29 are related and are reviewing video surveillance from a private security system to identify suspects.

The video showed two white male juveniles running across a yard about 2:47 a.m. after attempting to enter a motor home parked in a driveway. Police reviewed it after they were called to investigate damage made to a 4-foot inflatable swimming pool in a neighbor’s yard.

In that incident, police said, a 12-inch cut was made to the pool and several puncture holes were made.

A muddy shoe print found near the pool matched a print taken near the motor home.

Police said there were two other vandalism reports in that neighborhood on that date. Four tires were flattened on a vehicle in the driveway of one homeowner, who also reported a small landscaping rock was thrown through a picture window, causing $500 damage. Damage to the tires was estimated at $210.

Another homeowner reported tire damage estimated at $200.
