The Grand Avenue bridge over Walnut Creek at the intersection with First Street in West Des Moines will close Monday, disrupting traffic for about six months. DART bus lines will help people get around.

The detour begins the day of the closure, on Monday, March 25, and will remain in effect until the reopening of the bridge, which is scheduled for September, the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) said in a news release.
