Wells Fargo in West Des Moines Lays Off Employees
The cuts came due to higher mortgage rates.

Fifty-eight employees of Wells Fargo in West Des Moines are without jobs following a Thursday announcement.
According to the Des Moines Register, the layoffs were triggered by a reduction in refinancing activity due to the higher home loan rates. Wells Fargo & Co. laid off 350 employees nationally.
However, a company spokesperson said that the Wells Fargo layoffs are related to positions, not people, the Register reported, and some of those who received their 60-day notice Wednesday will find new jobs within the company before they’re released.
Wells Fargo began work on a $100 million addition to its existing Jordan Creek campus in West Des Moines in April, the article said.
