West Des Moines Couple’s Argument Ends When He Allegedly Runs Over Her Foot

A husband wanted to leave the house when his wife allegedly accused him of seeing another woman.

A West Des Moines woman drove herself to the hospital after her husband allegedly ran over her left foot as the couple argued in the driveway of their home.

Officer Curtis Russell wrote in his report that he responded to a 911 hangup call at the residence about 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 1. He was in the area, so he decided to investigate. While en route, he was told by the dispatcher that a caller saw the man run over the woman’s foot and he was taking her to the hospital.

Russell stopped the vehicle and questioned the couple, who have been married for 14 years. The husband said that his wife was arguing with him because she thinks he’s seeing another woman; he wanted to leave, but his wife objected.

According to the police report, the husband got into his vehicle and began to back up, then heard his wife scream. He told Russell it was an accident and he hadn’t seen her behind the vehicle; the wife agreed with his version of events.

She told the officer that when her husband got into his vehicle and prepared to leave, she placed a garbage tote behind his vehicle to stop him. He reportedly hit the trash receptacle, then ran over her foot.
