West Des Moines Crews to Pick Up Some Tree Debris from Storms

West Des Moines crews will collect tree branches next week that were downed in Saturday's storms, according to a city news release.

Residents who receive garbage service through the city are eligible for the special collection. Crews will collect branches up to 8 inches in diameter. Tree branches should be no longer than 8 feet and must be placed on the public right-of-way parallel to the curb for pick-up.

Debris with a diameter larger than 8 inches must be handled by private tree contractors or residents. Small branches and other tree debris should be bagged or bundled and handled through Metro Waste Authority's Compost-It program, the news release said.

This special tree collection program will only be for tree limbs that were damaged by the storm. Tree branches generated from the incidental trimming of tree branches will not be eligible for collection, the city said.

The special tree branch collection program will start Tuesday, April 17. All tree debris must be placed out for collection by 7:30 a.m. Monday, April 23.
