West Des Moines Dad Gives Cops the Dope On Daughter

When 17-year-old acts differently, he acts.

After a week of and increased awareness about local youths struggling through the , W got a welcome visit from a dad with drugs on his mind.

The man, whose 17-year-old daughter is a student at , told police he and his wife thought the girl had been acting differently and was hanging out with the wrong crowd, so they searched her room.

He turned over to police a makeup bag containing a glass pot pipe, a pill bottle containing 2.6 grams of marijuana, two lighters and a plastic case with a small amount of marijuana in it. According to the police report, the teen’s parents confronted her, but she allegedly claimed she was “just holding the pot for a friend” and denied having smoked it.

Her father wanted the police department’s help in investigating where she got the drugs. They encouraged him to contact the Valley school resource officer, Bryan Grube.
