West Des Moines Doctor Among Responders at Boston Marathon
The doctor had been working in the marathon's medical tent when the explosions occurred, taking the lives of three people and injuring dozens of others.

A West Des Moines podiatrist was among those who responded to the aftermath of two explosions that happened at the Boston Marathon Monday.
Dr. Kirk Neustrom was working in the marathon's medical tent when the explosions happened, reported WOI Channel 5 in Des Moines. This was his 19th year there, and he told the television station this was one year "he'll remember for the rest of his life."
But when others were running away from the blast area, Neustrom – who served in the Navy years ago – ran the opposite direction.

"It was amazing. Everyone worked together. It was like a war zone there, something you would maybe see in Iraq when car bombs go off in a crowded mall area or something like that," Neustrom told WOI.
Neustrom said he will be back in the medical tent for his 20th year during next year's marathon, the article said.
