West Des Moines Doctor's Office Employees Reportedly Harassed by Man Who Failed Drug Test

Calls became so frequent that doctor's office workers let phones go unanswered.

A West Des Moines physician reported to police that employees in his office have repeatedly been harassed by a man who allegedly failed a drug test after completing employer-ordered rehab.

The drug tests were ordered by Wright Tree Service of West Des Moines for an employee who works in the Kansas City area. When a new test came back positive for marijuana use, the West Des Moines physician called him to tell him the results.

Since then, the suspect has been calling the doctor’s offices “non-stop” and reportedly made threats about “coming up here and shooting up the place.”

The calls reportedly escalated in frequency on Dec. 19. “He called the office so much they just let their phones ring,” Anderson wrote. The suspect was told multiple times to stop calling the offices.

When he didn’t, Anderson called the suspect and told him of the complaint and to stop calling the physician’s office.

The suspect reportedly “said I did not know the entire story and he does not have to stop calling,” Anderson wrote. “(He) said his attorney told him to call the office, because he has the right to call. … He said he can do whatever he wants.”

The caller potentially faces charges of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
