West Des Moines Does Not Plan Tree Debris Collection

The City of West Des Moines has posted a release on its website notifying residents there will not be a collection of tree limbs downed by this week's snowfall. Residents need to follow

The will not collect tree debris from this week's snowfall, according to an item posted Thursday on the city's website.

Residents with debris may put downed tree limbs out for collection on their normal solid waste pick-up day, following Metro Waste Authority Compost-It guidelines, available at www.mwatoday.com/wdm

Residents may also use contractors or dispose of tree debris at approved sites.

Compost It! service for the year ends Dec. 2. Items are picked up on trash collection days.

Yard waste bags and stickers can be purchased at Hy-Vee, Dahl's, Lowe's and other hardware stores in West Des Moines. The cost per bag is $1.55 or $7.75 for a bundle of five; stickers cost $1.15.

Each brush bundle or generic bag must have a yard waste sticker. Brush bundles must be no more than 18 inches in diameter and no more than four feet long. Bundles cannot weigh more than 40 pounds. Each bundle must have a Compost It! sticker attached.
