West Des Moines Fire Department puts out DART bus fire at Valley West Mall

Investigation to determine cause of fire.

Shortly after 2 p.m. today, a DART bus on route #52 started on fire while parked at Valley West Mall. The bus operator acted quickly to get passengers off of the bus as soon as he smelled something suspicious, and there were no injuries. The West Des Moines Fire and Police Departments responded to extinguish the fire. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.

“We are very grateful that there were no injuries as a result of the fire, and are appreciative of the quick response from the West Des Moines Fire and Police Departments,” said Elizabeth Presutti, DART General Manager.
