West Des Moines First Quarter Construction Down from 2012

City issued permits covering nearly $12 million in construction activity in March, bringing first quarter total to $27.8 million.

That means 30 new single-family homes and 13 new townhomes are in the offering. The permit activity also included multiple renovations and additions.

The March activity brings to $27.8 million the total issued in the first quarter. Nearly 180 permits were issued during the period, compared with 270 permits valued at $88.2 million in the same period in 2012.

More than half of that activity – $49.8 million – was for a Microsoft project.
