A 41-year-old West Des Moines man reportedly asked if he could pay for more than $230 in groceries and ban himself from the store after police charged him with third-degree theft (enhanced).
According to a report on file at the employees at the Hy-Vee Foods store at 1725 Jordan Creek Parkway alleged Calleus Orr filled his cart with groceries and left the store without paying for them about 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 24.
Officer Jess Bill reported that without promoting, Orr said: “I made a mistake. Can I pay for this and never come back?”
Orr was arrested anyway and charged with an enhanced theft charge because he had three prior convictions in 1994, 1997 and 2004, according to Bill’s report.
